The gums play a very important role in a beautiful smile. The gums are the frame, so if necessary, we must also shape and form the gums for the best, most beautiful smile available. For this, our practice uses the most advanced laser dentistry equipment and the largest and most widely applicable range of laser devices in the country.
How can laser gum contouring help you achieve an aesthetic smile?
Laser gum surgery is necessary when the gums have receded, making the teeth appear aesthetically very long. However, gum restoration is not only important for aesthetic reasons but also for health reasons, as receding gums often lead to painful tooth neck sensitivity, bleeding gums, or even, in more severe cases, gingivitis.
In this case, the priority is to eliminate inflammation, for which we use modern laser equipment and the laser protocol from the University of Aachen in Germany, after which laser gum contouring can follow.
It is important to recognise the signs of gum recession, to consult a laser dentistry specialist in a timely manner, and to have the problem treated, as neglecting it can lead to tooth loss and significant damage to the jawbone.
There can be several reasons for this:
It could be due to overcrowding, or the teeth being in the wrong alignment.
A lack of regular brushing and insufficient oral hygiene cause plaque to form on the teeth, which later develops into tartar, a major cause of gum recession and subsequent gum inflammation.
Inheritable thinner, more fragile gum tissue can lead to gum recession, even with good oral hygiene.
This can occur as a consequence of orthodontics when the teeth have been moved with excessive force or too quickly, which is why it is worth choosing a self-ligating orthodontic appliance using gentle forces.
Bad bites can also cause gum recession if a part of the dentition is exposed to disproportionate force.
This can also occur as a result of incorrect brushing technique, when the gums are subjected to high stress by rubbing with strongly horizontal movements, they recede in response. This can be remedied by regular professional dental hygiene treatment, during which our colleague will demonstrate the correct brushing technique, which can then be easily mastered.
Continuous friction from tongue or lip piercings can lead to gum recession in the affected area.
A fogíny visszahúzódásának tünetei a következők:
* A fogíny visszahúzódása, ami miatt a fogak hosszabbnak tűnnek.
* A fogak tövében lévő fogíny duzzanata, pirossága vagy vérzése.
* Fájdalom vagy érzékenység a fogíny mentén.
* Megmutatkozó fognyak a fogak körül.
* Vérzés fogmosás vagy fogselyem használata után.
* Lethargy, rossz lehelet.
* A fogak meglazulása vagy kiválása.
The tooth will be sensitive to cold and heat, as the gums do not cover the tooth roots.
Aesthetically, the teeth “appear larger” as more surface area of the tooth is visible than before.
Often, the gums become swollen and red due to the accompanying gingivitis, the breath becomes unpleasant, and gum bleeding may also accompany the aforementioned symptoms.
Why is it worth having gum recession treated at Naturadent Laser Dentistry?
Because we treat not only the symptom but also the root cause, the first task is always to identify and eliminate the factor(s) that trigger gum recession. If the gum recession is still in its early stages, a professional dental hygiene treatment and cleaning may be sufficient to stop the process.
In more advanced stages, a cervical filling and gumplasty procedure are necessary. Gum recession can be successfully treated with gumplasty procedures based on the latest scientific results in laser dentistry.
At Naturadent, gum plastic surgery is performed by an oral surgeon who specialises in this area, choosing the procedure that will result in the most perfect aesthetic correction for the patient. In general, gum plastic surgery is performed under local anaesthetic. In many cases, it may be necessary to thicken the thin gum above and below the adjacent teeth to ensure it is long-lasting and resistant to further external impacts.
If the gums have receded from the tooth, we use a surgical procedure called a tunnel technique to ensure the gums cover the tooth to the necessary extent again. Laser technology is used in this case to promote healing.
Once gum inflammation has been successfully treated, lost gum tissue during gum recession can be replaced using a variety of techniques. Among the techniques we successfully employ are coronally advanced flap surgery and tunnel technique. The latter does not require flap surgery, making it a more favoured procedure.
Following appropriate oral surgery, new gum tissue is placed to replace what has been lost. The tooth and the worn tooth neck regain their essential protection, and within a few weeks, there will be no trace of the procedure. The gums are once again beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, functionally complete, and healthy.
Gum recession can also be treated with gum grafting (where it is available in abundance, e.g. from wisdom teeth, the palate) or with modern soft tissue augmentation materials available at Naturadent, which can be absorbable collagen matrices of animal origin, or synthetic materials, depending on the patient's choice.
How long does it take to recover after gum surgery?
This depends on the size of the area repaired by the surgery. For a small area, one week of healing is required, and for a larger operation, two weeks. It can take up to three months for the final state to be achieved.
How much does gum reshaping cost?
The cost of treatments depends heavily on the size of the area requiring gum surgery and the type of treatment needed. We will create a treatment plan tailored precisely to your needs, clearly outlining the costs and the estimated time required.
