The properties of zirconium crowns and bridges

Precise fit is particularly important for the lifespan of a crown or bridge, therefore the design (CAD – Computer Aided Design) and manufacture (CAM – Computer Aided Manufactury) of zirconium crowns are performed by computer.

How is a metal-free zircon crown made?

If you are interested in a zirconium crown and have not visited us before, you are cordially invited to our practice for a dental examination on your first visit. During this examination, we will take a digital panoramic X-ray, which will be analysed to inform your consulting dentist about the condition of your teeth below the gum line.

The creation of a metal-free zirconia crown in our practice is performed under painless local anaesthesia. As a first step, the dentist prepares the tooth, after which an impression is taken.

It's essential that you are not left without a tooth while your prosthesis is being prepared: our dentists will always fit the prepared tooth with a dental crown, either in-office or temporary.

The dental technician will prepare the prosthesis within a few days, which will be tried in at the next appointment. If it is perfect in colour, aesthetics and fit, the dentist will fix it.

From preparing the tooth to fixing the zircon crown, you don't have to hide your smile: the dentist will fit your tooth with a temporary restoration made in the dentist's office or by a dental technician.

Laser in the creation of a zircon crown

In order to give the finished zircon crown a natural, aesthetic effect with the tooth colour, the gums are treated with a laser. This ensures that the restoration is fixed on a bacteria-free surface, so with regular check-ups and proper dental care, the finished restoration will last for a long time.
